The FabLearn Fellows have a new podcast called Meaningful Making, “where we try to unpack the world of maker education, share constructionist best practices, and illuminate incredible work of the FabLearn Fellows from around the world.” 2016 fellows Samuel Phillips and Daniel Schermele along with 2014 fellow Andrew Carle have helped organize the podcast effort. You can subscribe to Meaningful Making on iTunes or on Simplecast.

I’m proud to be featured in Episode 1 of the podcast.

Sam put together a great blog post describing the Meaningful Making: Podcast Workflow. This post was very helpful when a teacher came to me and wanted assistance starting a podcast. I was able to point him to the article and the teacher used that info to start a class podcast on his own.  The class podcast is now available on iTunes,  SoundCloud and on the DHSPress.com website.

This experience with making a podcast has been very useful as I’ve worked with several classes on starting podcasts. Being able to share a real example that I was a part of helps give me some credibility with students. I was also able to talk about some of the skills needed for podcasting and point out mistakes using my own episode.

I’m looking forward to future episodes of the Meaningful Making podcast as new teams of FabLearn fellows tell their stories.
